After word spread that Kanye had been banned from tonight’s telethon benefiting Haiti on MTV, reps from the network are denying it.

MTV Networks representatives issued the following brief statement:
“We reached out to Kanye (through his people) about performing on the telethon. We did not hear back definitively but we DID ask him to be a part of it.”

MTV PUH-LEASE Ya’ll GOOD FOR BANNING PEOPLE- REMEMBER JANET AT THE SUPERBOWL????

If you haven’t heard a number of A-list artists will perform a cross-continent televised fundraiser for “Hope For Haiti Now” tonight. Wyclef Jean, Jennifer Hudson, Mary J. Blige, and Shakira will perform from New York; Los Angeles hosts Alicia Keys, Christina Aguilera, John Legend, Justin Timberlake, Stevie Wonder, and Taylor Swift; and Coldplay joins Bono, Jay-Z and Rihanna in London.

The producers of this event say that Kanye West will NOT be in the building….

“After what he said on the Katrina telethon and the way he behaved at the MTV Video Music Awards, everyone agrees it’s just best that he does not participate, Kanye has to make everything about himself. He will do anything to steal the spotlight, and, well, this night it’s just not about him.”

Alrighty Then….

The two-hour program will be simulcast on all major networks, HBO and music-themed cable channels and online at video sites including YouTube and Hulu. It will benefit on-the-ground-in-Haiti charities like Oxfam, Partners in Health, the Red Cross and Wyclef’s Yele Haiti organization.

MY TAKE ON THIS:: With hundreds of thousands of people dead in Haiti and the numbers rising, they can use all the help they can get. Even if Kanye might pop off at the mouth again as always. He has MILLIONS of fans and as hard to believe as it may seem, some people might only tune in or attend the event because they are in love with him as an artist. Don’t think he should be banned but WHATEVER…YOU MADE THE BED NOW LAY IN IT KANYE!
